Ichthys LNG Project : Halliburton wins drilling and completion services contracts

Ichthys LNG Project : Halliburton said that it has won seven drilling and completion services contracts for the next phase of field development of the offshore Ichthys gas field operated by INPEX in the Browse Basin in northern Australia.

According to the US oilfield services company, the well development campaign is expected to begin in March 2020 and is estimated to continue for three years.

Included in the contracts awards are directional drilling, logging while drilling, surface data logging, cementing, drilling and completions fluids, liner hangers, coring and also well completions services.

Commenting on the Ichthys LNG Project contract, Jason Jeow – vice president of the Australasia region for Halliburton, said: “We are excited to win this work and to collaborate with INPEX to deliver our extensive drilling and completions services in addition to our digital capabilities in the strategically significant Browse Basin.”

Halliburton said that its Western Australian facilities in Jandakot and Broome will support the Ichthys LNG Project contract. The US oilfield services company expects to hire local personnel at its Broome facility to support the contract for the Ichthys gas field.

In July 2019, McDermott International and GE’s subsidiary Baker Hughes were awarded contracts to deliver joint umbilicals, risers, and flowlines (URF) and subsea production system (SPS) solution for the Ichthys gas project.
