Hapag-Lloyd to acquire 49% stake in Italian logistics firm Spinelli Group

Hapag-Lloyd, a German container liner-shipping company, has agreed to acquire a stake of 49% in Spinelli Group, an Italian logistics group, for an undisclosed price.

The stake will be acquired from existing shareholders of Spinelli Group.

The remaining 51% stake in the Italian logistics company will be held by the Spinelli family.

In business in Italy since 1963, the Spinelli Group provides services across the full logistics chain of containers to the shipping lines. These include port terminal services, container depots and repairs, multimodal transport solutions, warehouses, and customs agent works.

The closing of the deal, which is conditional on the approval of the relevant antitrust authorities, is likely to occur within the next months.
