Granules India opens pharma packaging facility in Manassas, Virginia

Indian pharma company Granules said that Granules Consumer Health (GCH), has opened and launched a pharma packaging facility in Manassas, Virginia.

Granules Consumer Health is the company’s step-down subsidiary.

The packaging plant covers 79,000 feet, and is fitted with packaging lines and clean rooms that can be used to package and ship prescription as well as over-the-counter products throughout the market.

Built with an investment of around $12.5 million, the pharma packaging plant recently received approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with zero 483 observations.

It was opened by Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu who is the Indian Ambassador to the US.

The inclusion of the pharma packing facility is expected to help Granules become one of the very few pharmaceutical companies that are vertically connected across API and packaging.

Dr. Krishna Prasad Chigurupati — Granules Chairman and Managing Director said: “Granules Consumer Health’s packaging facility will improve resilience in our as well as improving our reaction time. The facility will enable to meet fast-moving consumer shifts as well as reducing lead times for critical prescriptions products that are in shortage.”
