Granicus acquires US-based govtech company Calytera

Granicus, a provider of cloud-based citizen engagement technologies and services, has acquired Texas-based govtech company Calytera from BuildGroup.

The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed by Granicus, which is a portfolio company of Vista Equity Partners.

Calytera with its govtech platform called Amanda helps governments across the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK automate a range of services and business processes.

With Calytera’s expertise in providing automation for global permitting, compliance and licensing (PCL) and also its best practices and workflows are expected to considerably expand the digital service capabilities of Granicus for the public sector.

The deal combines Calytera’s knowledge in processing millions of digital PCL and freedom of information (FOI) transactions with the Citizen Engagement Platform of Granicus. This combination is expected to help the two firms’ shared vision of enabling governments to become more responsive, efficient, and connected via better technology.

Prior to Calytera, Granicus acquired Host Compliance, a short-term rental compliance SaaS provider in November 2019. In April 2019, Granicus acquired Firmstep, a provider of citizen digital self-service and public sector customer relationship management (CRM) solutions.
