Galaxy Semiconductor to acquire Quantix Business from Mentor Graphics

US-based Galaxy Semiconductor Solutions has agreed to acquire almost all of the assets of the Quantix Business from Mentor Graphics, a business owned by Siemens for an undisclosed price.

The acquisition is said to enable Galaxy Semiconductor Solutions in re-establishing itself as a major independent provider of test data management and analysis solutions for the semiconductor industry.

The deal is likely to be closed in a few weeks.

Philippe Lejeune – Board Chairman and CTO of the newly formed company said: “We chose to continue with the Galaxy name because of the many years of history and the strong reputation that it enjoys in the semiconductor industry.

“I’m looking forward to leading this great team to design and build amazing new products that address difficult technical challenges such as yield optimization, device characterization, and reliability improvement.”

Galaxy Semiconductor Solutions is acquiring various software solutions from Mentor Graphics, which include a suite of software used by more than 100 microelectronic device designers and manufacturers to enhance quality, reliability, and yield of their devices.

The software products that Galaxy Semiconductor Solutions will be acquiring include Examinator & Examinator Pro, Yield Man, PAT Man, and Offline Shmoo.
