Food tech company Benson Hill acquires soybean crushing facility in Seymour
Benson Hill, a US-based food technology company, has completed its previously announced acquisition of a soybean crushing facility in Indiana, located at Seymour, from Rose Acre Farms.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Benson Hill has developed a food innovation engine called CropOS platform that combines data science and machine learning with biology and genetics. The food technology company helps innovators to unlock the genetic diversity of nature from plant to plate, with the aim to create healthier, great-tasting food and ingredient options.

The acquisition of the soybean crushing facility, which was announced earlier this month, will further strengthen Benson Hill’s position in the value chain to support production of a strong portfolio of non-GMO, identity preserved, and sustainable soy protein and oil ingredients for the human food as well as animal feed markets.
Benson Hill said that the soybean crushing facility in Seymour will eventually process its proprietary soybean varieties, which include the first commercial plantings of its ultra-high protein soybeans, that are scheduled to be harvested this fall.
In May 2021, the US food technology company signed a merger deal with blank check company Star Peak Corp II, in a move to go public.
