Enbridge Gas, a Canadian natural gas storage, transmission and distribution company, has commissioned the CAD105.7 million ($80.79 million) Kingsville Transmission Reinforcement Pipeline in Essex County, Ontario.
The pipeline project was taken up to meet the increasing demand for natural gas in Southwestern Ontario, covering the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent and neighboring areas that include the greenhouse market in Leamington and Kingsville region.
Enbridge Gas began construction on the 19km of natural gas transmission pipeline in the Lakeshore and Kingsville towns in Essex County in mid-2019. According to the company, the project crews will return in mid-2020 to wrap up final clean-up activities at the pipeline project.
Steven Jelich – Enbridge Gas Director of Southwest Region Operations, commenting on the Kingsville Transmission Reinforcement Pipeline, said: “The Kingsville Transmission Reinforcement Pipeline Project brings more natural gas to the fast-growing greenhouse market in the Leamington and Kingsville area, as well as provides affordable natural gas to residents and businesses in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent and surrounding areas.
“We thank residents and landowners in the project area for their support during the construction process.”

The 20-inch Kingsville Transmission Reinforcement Pipeline project begins at a new valve site and tie-in to the Panhandle Pipeline located between Belle River Road and Lakeshore Road 223 in Lakeshore, and terminates at a new valve site near Concession Road 3 East and Graham Side Road in Kingsville.
Enbridge Gas said that the natural gas pipeline was designed, laid and operated to meet or surpass all applicable safety codes and regulations. The company has started its pipeline maintenance program to make sure that the gas transmission project continues to operate safely and reliably.

Enbridge Gas was formed in early 2019 through the amalgamation of Enbridge’s Ontario-based gas utility Enbridge Gas Distribution with Canadian natural gas company Union Gas.
