Cold chain logistics firm Snowman Logistics launches 5PL services in India

Snowman Logistics has launched fifth-party logistics (5PL) services in the cold chain logistics and supply chain management sector in India following the rise in international trade and e-commerce activities.

In addition to current third-party logistics (3PL) services of transportation and warehousing, the cold chain logistics company will now offer distribution and consolidation services, including sourcing on behalf of customers and full inventory management.

Under 5PL services, Snowman Logistics is said to develop suppliers, negotiate pricing on behalf of customers, audit manufacturing plants, share production/requirement planning, buy stocks from them, consolidate in warehouse, and sell to the clients.

According to Snowman Logistics, the vendor onboarding process will involve an extensive quality audit and commercial benchmarking done by the Snowman Quality Team.

Sunil Nair — Snowman Logistics CEO said: “The launch of 5PL services has opened up a huge opportunity for us to convert our existing 3PL accounts to 5PL accounts.

“By using our expertise, network of suppliers and customers and offer distribution and consolidation services in addition to our existing solutions, we are now offering one-stop distribution services, right from the manufacturing plant to the consumption points through which we are able to add further value and enhance earnings from our existing businesses without needing to invest in infrastructure.”

Snowman Logistics’ 5PL services clients include IKEA, Tim Hortons, and Baskin Robbins, according to Sunil Nair.
