Cognizant to acquire Mobica to augment IoT software engineering service portfolio

Cognizant will acquire Mobica, a UK-based Internet of Things (IoT) software engineering services provider, to increase its IoT embedded software engineering capabilities across technology and automotive industries.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The Manchester-headquartered Mobica offers Tech Talent-as-a-Service (TaaS) with offices across Europe and US. It caters to the aerospace, finance, semiconductors, and automotive industries.

Following the acquisition, Cognizant anticipates further improving its client offerings and position as a strategic partner in enterprise digital transformation through Mobica’s expertise in connected devices and digital transformation, silicon and technology platforms, and automotive and intelligent mobility.

Post-closing, Cognizant will add nearly 900 people across Europe and North America, with around 550 engineers in Poland.

Cognizant will have over 7,500 associates in Eastern Europe, including around 4,500 engineers, after the acquisition of Mobica.

Commenting on Cognizant acquisition of Mobica, Sam Kingston — Mobica CEO said: “The alignment we share with Cognizant from a technology, industry and client-focus standpoint represents a strong platform for continued growth in Europe and North America, and an opportunity for our talented team to grow their skills and careers.”

Cognizant acquired Softvision in 2018 and Devbridge in 2021 to strengthen its capabilities in Eastern Europe, predominantly in Romania and Lithuania, respectively.

Subject to the customary closing conditions, Cognizant acquisition of Mobica is anticipated to complete in February 2023.
