Coal India says 11 parties interested in bidding for 6MT coal tenders
Coal India Limited (CIL) revealed that 11 coal importers have expressed their interest in bidding for its tenders for procuring six million tonnes of coal.
The Indian government-owned coal mining company said that it had recently hosted three pre-bid meetings with the potential coal importing agencies.
According to Coal India, the interested coal importers which took part in the session with the company’s officials included India-based Adani Enterprises Limited, Chettinad Logistics Private Limited, and Mohit Minerals.
A couple of coal exporting agencies from overseas had also expressed interest, including one from Indonesia, said Coal India.

The state-owned coal mining company said that the meetings were held to aid the interested bidders in competing in the process, and get a better understanding of the bid document, scope of work, and its finer aspects.
The meeting also helped in making certain amendments in the tenders, which included reducing the time window of the bid price validity from 90 days to 60 days.
Another change was fixing the time period for delivering the first tranche of shipment, from the date of letter of award for the coal supply, between four and six weeks. Originally, the supply schedule was based on a specific percentage of delivery in each of the months of Q2 FY’23.
Coal India had issued two medium-term tenders earlier this month in order to address India’s urgent requirement for stacking up coal for indigenous coal-fired power plants.
