Cabot begins construction on new specialty compounds facility in Cilegon

Cabot Corporation, an American specialty chemicals and performance materials company, has started construction on a new specialty compounds facility in Cilegon, Indonesia.

Co-located with the company’s existing carbon black manufacturing site, the new facility will increase its annual global capacity for specialty compounds by 20,000 metric tons.

Dixy Olyviardy — managing director of Cabot Asia Pacific South and president of Cabot Indonesia said: “For more than 30 years, we have developed a strong presence in Indonesia with our carbon black facility and the support and partnership of the Indonesian government.

“We are excited to expand our footprint in the Cilegon community with our new masterbatch plant and continue to contribute to the economic development in Indonesia.”

The new specialty compounds facility in Cilegon will produce black masterbatch, conductive compounds, and others. It is expected to begin operations by the end of this year.

According to Cabot Corporation, the new capacity in Indonesia will deliver a reliable, local supply to support the growing requirement for specialty compounds in the masterbatch and conductive compounds market in Southeast Asia as well as in other parts of the world.

The specialty compounds facility in Indonesia is expected to include Cabot’s latest technology advances in its design and operations.
