Bulgana Green Power Hub : Neoen begins full-scale commercial production

Neoen has started full-scale commercial production of the Bulgana Green Power Hub, a hybrid power plant in Victoria that comprises a 204MW wind farm and a 20MW/34MWh Tesla battery.

According to the French renewable energy company, the hybrid power plant located in Stawell can produce 750,000MWh of power annually, which can power nearly 150,000 homes.

The wind farm of the power station is made up of 56 wind turbines manufactured by Siemens Gamesa.

Developed with an investment of AUD 350 million, the Bulgana Green Power Hub is backed by a 15-year support agreement with the Victorian government. The hybrid power project will play a role in contributing to the Australian state’s Victorian Renewable Energy Target (VRET) of 50% by the end of this decade.

Construction on the Bulgana Green Power Hub began in May 2018 around a year after it was acquired by Neoen.

The facility joins the 128MWp Numurkah solar farm and the 300MW/450MWh Victorian Big Battery to expand Neoen’s operating portfolio in Victoria to 652MW across wind, solar and battery storage.
