Bozhong 34-9 oilfield brought into production by CNOOC in Bohai Sea

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), a Chinese national oil company has started production from the Bozhong 34-9 oilfield in the south of Bohai Sea.

Contained in an average water depth of 18.1 meters, the Bozhong 34-9 oilfield is using the existing facilities of Kenli oilfield for its production apart from a central platform and a wellhead platform.

CNOOC is planning to drill a total of 57 wells at the offshore Chinese oilfield, of which 38 will be production wells and 19 will be water injection wells.

The Bozhong 34-9 oil project is anticipated to reach its peak production of around 22,500 barrels of crude oil per day in the year 2022.

CNOOC holds a 100% interest in the Bozhong 34-9 oilfield.

Last month, the Chinese national oil company announced RMB85-95 billion ($12.2-13.7 billion) in total capital expenditure for this year. CNOOC is targeting a net production of 520 million to 530 million barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) in 2020, of which 64% will be from China, while the rest will be from overseas.

The Chinese national oil company has outlined plans for drilling 227 exploration wells for the current year apart from gathering close to 27,000 square kilometers of 3D seismic data.
