BHEL inaugurates solar EV charging station at Karna Lake Resort

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has inaugurated a solar electric vehicle (EV) charging station at Karna Lake Resort in Karnal, Haryana.

According to BHEL, the EV charging station is located strategically at the midpoint of the Delhi-Chandigarh highway. It is equipped to serve all types of electric cars that are presently on the road in India.

The Indian government-owned engineering company said that is also working on upgrading the other charging stations on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway this year.

BHEL said that having similar EV charging stations at regular intervals of 25-30kms on highways will relieve the range-anxiety among electric vehicle users and strengthen their confidence in inter-city travel.

The company said that the solar electric vehicle charging stations feature individual grid-connected rooftop solar plants for supplying them with clean energy.

Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey — Indian Minister of Heavy Industries, who inaugurated the solar EV charging station at Karna Lake Resort, said: “The Hon’ble PM has clearly highlighted that environment security has the same importance as national security and that India is making all efforts towards becoming energy independent.

“India is a vibrant voice of environment security which comprises climate change, energy conservation, clean energy transition efforts, etc. and the nation’s efforts in environment have started giving desired results. This is an important step in the direction of achieving the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister.”
