Bharat Electronics wins Rs 3.8bn contracts from Ministry of Defence
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has bagged a couple of contracts worth INR 3,800 crores from the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the delivery of Medium Power Radar and Digital Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) to the Indian Air Force.
The Medium Power Radar (Arudhara) is a 4D Surveillance Radar fitted with Active Aperture Phased Array Radar technologies that are based upon Solid State TR Module Transmission.
The Radar was developed locally and is produced by Bharat Electronics using Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LDRE) – DRDO design. This system is expected to increase the capabilities of surveillance of the Indian Air Force with the Modern Radar Technologies, including best-in-class ECCM capabilities, said the Indian government-owned aerospace and defence electronics company.
The Digital Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) for Fighter Aircraft was designed locally and developed by the Combat Aircraft Systems Development & Integration Centre (CASDIC), DRDO. The availability of modern EW Systems will considerably boost the capability of the battle for IAF fighter aircraft while performing operations against enemies.
Bharat Electronics stated: “These are flagship projects showcasing the indigenous design and manufacturing capabilities of Indian Defence industry led by BEL, involving other Public Sectors, Private Sectors and MSMEs. These projects will add another milestone to the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan’ and ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Government of India.”
