Avanti Frozen Foods said that it has expanded a prior recall issued in late June 2021 for some of its frozen cooked shrimp products sold in the US due to possible health risk.

The brands associated with the impacted products are Big River/Seacove/Ahold/CWNO/FirstStreet and others.

The product recall now extends to some consignments of various sizes of frozen cooked, peeled, deveined, shrimp (some packaged with cocktail sauce). These products were sold in multiple unit sizes, and have been recalled because of potential contamination with Salmonella.

Avanti Frozen Foods said that the impacted frozen shrimp products were distributed across India from November 2020 to May 2021.

The Indian food company said that the recall expansion has been taken up on a precautionary basis and will cover a huge amount of product that has not been linked to any illness but carried out after discussions with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
