American flavor producer FlavorSum begins expansion of Kalamazoo facility

American flavor producer FlavorSum, a portfolio company of private equity firm Riverside Company, said that it has started construction to expand its Kalamazoo facility in Michigan by two times with the addition of 35,000sft.

With the expanded area of operation, FlavorSum expects to build out more technical capacities and resources to meet the requirements of smaller, mid-sized, and emerging food and drink businesses.

The expanded Kalamazoo facility, along with the enlarging technical capabilities are said to be a reflection of FlavorSum’s determination to keep pace with industry-leading growth rates. Space for a pilot plant and lab in the new facility will help support initiatives like MicroThermics equipment, better processes for shipping and receiving, and greater storage capacity for products.

FlavorSum aims to have the expanded facility fully operational in August 2023.
