Adani Green Energy commissions third hybrid power plant in Jaisalmer

Adani Group’s renewables arm — Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has commissioned a 450MW wind-solar hybrid power plant in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, its third such facility in the city.

The newly commissioned hybrid power plant is underpinned by 25-year power purchase agreements (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) at a rate of INR 2.67/kwh. It is located in Adani Green Energy’s subsidiary — Adani Solar Energy Jaisalmer One Private Ltd.

According to Adani Green Energy, the new wind-solar hybrid power plant in Jaisalmer is made up of a 420MW solar power plant and a 105MW wind farm.

Following its commissioning, Adani Green Energy has taken its operational hybrid power generation capacity to 1.44GW, which includes the first hybrid power plant in India, which at a capacity of 390MW, was commissioned in May 2022.

In September 2022, Adani Green Energy brought online what it claims to be the largest co-located hybrid power plant in the world, with a capacity of 600MW. Both the hybrid power generation facilities are located in Jaisalmer.

Adani Green Energy stated: “With the successful commissioning of this 450 MW plant, AGEL now has a total operational generation capacity of ~7.17 GW. This also makes AGEL the world’s largest wind-solar hybrid power farm developer.”
