MODEC bags Sangomar FPSO contract from Woodside Energy

Sangomar FPSO contract : MODEC has signed a contract with Woodside Energy to deliver a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Sangomar field development phase 1 offshore Senegal.

Recently, the Rufisque Offshore, Sangomar Offshore and Sangomar Deep Offshore (RSSD) joint venture was granted approval from the Senegalese government to move ahead with the Sangomar oil project.

The Sangomar oil field is located in the Sangomar Offshore and Sangomar Offshore Deep oil blocks.

The Sangomar FPSO contract for MODEC follows a front end engineering design (FEED) award for the FPSO in February 2019. The latest FPSO purchase contract has been given following the final investment decision (FID) taken by Woodside Energy and its partners on the Sangomar field development earlier this month.

The FPSO for the Sangomar oil project, which is due for delivery in early 2023, will be deployed about 100 kilometers south of Dakar.

According to MODEC, the Sangomar FPSO will be moored permanently at a water depth of about 780 meters by an external turret mooring system to be delivered by its subsidiary – SOFEC.

The FPSO will have a processing capacity of 100,000 barrels of crude oil per day, 130 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, 145,000 barrels of water injection per day. It will have 1,300,000 barrels of crude oil of minimum storage capacity.

Currently, MODEC operates three FPSO vessels in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire apart from delivering another seven floating production units like FPSO, FSO and tension leg platform (TLP) which have been installed in Angola, Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Nigeria.
